'Nduja

I was recently very fortunate to be sent some fabulous new Lupetta Italian products to taste, from the importer and distributor Donatantonio.

The range of consists of five initial new products, a cherry tomato sauce, in a beautiful little dumpy beer capped type bottle, Semi-dried cherry tomatoes in oil, tinned San Manzano tomatoes, a lovely sweet & thick balsamic vinegar from Modena and finally my absolute favourite a jar of Nduja paste.

Calabrese ’Nduja paste is a traditional product, from the Calabrian countryside, which was created by farmers during the war to use up any surplus meat after the slaughter of pigs.

Today ’Nduja uses only the best pork from Calabrian pigs and a little fat. Added to this are typical Calabrian spicy red peppers which give it a real kick and locally sourced extra virgin olive oil from the Calabrian hills to make it spreadable. Free from any gluten or dairy, ’Nduja paste is ideal for spreading over warm rustic ciabatta or crostini as well as the perfect pizza topping, sandwich filling and pasta sauce ingredient.

I loved this product it was delicious very moreish, I had it on toast and it is amazing, rich pork flavour, combined with the hot & spicy peppers a real authentic treat. Seek it out, buy & enjoy, remember its called Nduja paste part of the Lupetta range.
